If you know me well enough, then you know that I will preach increasing earning potential ALL THE DAMN TIME! The older we get the more responsibilities we take on and the more expensive things becomes. This means that in most cases we can no longer rely on getting the inflation related” annual salary increasing as a way of increasing income.
One of the best ways of increasing earning potential is upskilling. Getting additional skills or updating current skills with the latest best practice is most likely to set you up for a promotion at your current workplace, or get you a higher salary elsewhere.
Between all the adulting that we do, time and money are often limitations to furthering our studies. So I have looked to MOOCs and I have found some great courses online that I can do in my own pace and they are either affordable or completely free.

I have taken a few so far and loved Project Management for Development Professionals . It provides the basics of project management specifically in the development space, as well as provides links to additional resources that give practical guidance.
Perfect for the job seeker. They offer skill-based courses to help improve your job searching journey. They also test skills such as Excel, Microsoft Teams etc, and if you do great they place a badge on your profile which is visible to potential employers, and increases your chance at being spotted. Cool, right?
Here you find a range of online courses to help kick start your business journey. This is one of the first Online Courses I have taken. It’s very easy to navigate and the topics are exciting. The modules cover the fundamentals of getting your business online, including marketing, expanding, and growing your online customer base. If you finish all 26 modules, Google throws in Fundamentals of Digital Marketing Certificate.
If you are passionate and want to learn more about the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and Intergovernmental Diplomacy then UNITAR has some courses to help you improve your knowledge as well as help others advance the SDG towards agenda 2030. Some of the courses are quite pricey, and some are free. They also have other resources such as webinars, workshops etc which provide easy and accessible learning.
