If you don’t like chatting to random strangers on flights, it’s always a great idea to take a book along. Any reasonable person will not disturb you for small talk if they can see that you are concentrating and absorbed. However, whether you’re travelling for business or leisure, it’s always best to take a light, easy to read book so that it doesn’t consume you much and take your mind away from the purpose of the trip.

Here’s my top 3 of such books for your reading pleasure.

1. The Disruptors, Social entrepreneurs reinventing business. Kerryn Krige & Gus Silber

Krige and Silber tell the stories of a group of social entrepreneurs who are changing the world, one business at a time. The book is a collection of stories of talented individuals who saw a need to improve the lives of others by creating enterprises that address social ills and solve community problems, and obviously dispel the notion

that business exists for profit generating only.

The stories covered in the book are inspirational. The entrepreneurs are vast and operate in various industries such as education, business incubators and healthcare. Their stories of innovation will not only leave you inspired, but they are bound to warm your heart too.

2. Equal but different. Dr Judy Dlamini

Dr Dlamini shares stories of remarkable women who occupy leadership positions in various industries and from various background. The manner in which she shares her experiences of navigating male dominated spaces is amazing in that she highl

ights hers and other women’s achievements without diminishing those of their counterparts. This b

ook will live you inspired by how great a leader she is and how she continuously breaks glass ceilings set up to discourage women from pushing ahead. Hers is an amazing story of how leadership success and a prosperous family life are not mutually exclusive for women, and I love to see it.

3. All in a Galz Life. Gugu Ndima

The story- a bit cliché and FULL OF DRAMA, but not too farfetched. Mandisa’s love story is beautiful, if you’re a hopeless romantic like myself, it m

ight be a bit of a tear jerker. The characters seem so real, and any typical South African woman will relate to their lifestyle in one way or the other.

Ndima uses colloquial language which makes you feel lik

e you’re having a conversation with your friends. Her use of slang and dialect are an indication of how well researched the characters are, before they were developed.

This is perfect for a holiday trip.

Enjoy your trip, travel safely and take lots of pictures :)
